Botanical Illustration
I was lucky enough to spend the day in a Botanical Illustration workshop, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was taught by Lisa Coddington, who has a lot of experience, and has some lovely artwork. While a mere 4 and a half hours is a short time to think about a lot of things in botanical illustration, it was enough to feel like I accomplished something:
It's not quite finished (we ran out of time) but I think it will work beautifully in a larger painting/drawing.

Woodcut
I amused myself for a bit is afternoon playing with a free app called UKIYOE, which is a woodcut app. I had fun- I pulled a photo from my library of my son hiking, and carved away. The best part is there's and "undo" feature, so unlike real woodcuts, you can undo a stroke if it's not right. It's been a long time since I played with the idea of carving out negative space, though. Still it was a fun app to play with!

For Kylah
My mother- and sister-in-law and my niece are here visiting for the week. Kylah, a budding artist, has gifted me not one, but two, lovely paintings she has done. I finally completed a drawing for her this morning:

Dammed
When I haven't produced much fine art in a while, I've noticed it starts to collect in my head and come out in my dreams and mix and swirl inside my head. The only thing to do is start opening the gates...
Which can be slow.
But Snapseed sure can be fun for a little photo editing...
